Municipal Drainage Upgrade

Project Overview

The City of Fairfax engaged Total Stormwater Solutions to rehabilitate a decades-old drainage system that was causing repeated flooding in a residential neighborhood. The project involved comprehensive assessment, pipe replacement, and inlet upgrades across 2.5 miles of drainage infrastructure serving over 12,000 residents.

Scope of Work

• Condition assessment and CCTV inspection of 2.5 miles of pipe
• Replacement of 800 linear feet of failing 36-inch RCP
• Installation of 45 new curb inlet structures
• Grade stabilization and erosion control
• Pavement restoration and landscaping
• Hydraulic modeling validation post-construction

Results

• Reduced flood event frequency by 80% in target neighborhood
• Achieved full VSMP permit compliance
• Eliminated three recurring EPA NOV locations
• 30-year design life for all replaced infrastructure
